Together with the International Rhino Foundation (www.rhino-irf.com) and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (www.ewt.org.za) we are working on an anti-poaching project in Zimbabwe. We will be training a tracking dog that can track down poachers and can assist their anti-poaching teams on patrols and poaching incidents. We will work in three conservancies for a 21-day trial. When the project is finished and the results are positive, the dog will be deployed with the management of the conservancies and work in this fight against Rhino poaching. We are currently running three dogs for this programme. Rhino is a Lab mix from CLAW in Gauteng and shows great tracking potential, Tyto is a Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) and will also function as a good visual deterrent. Ranger is a Bloodhound x 1/4 Dobermann and already has tracking experience. He is doing a fantastic job! We will be looking for a place for all three dogs in this project.
